China OS Steps In The Ring With Microsoft, Apple And Google

The internet, internet services and delivery methods for the internet are ever expanding, now reaching into new markets with millions of new users. One of those areas is China where information is usually tightly controlled. With Microsoft, Apple and Google all reaching into China vying for these users the Chinese government are preparing their counter to the invasion in the form of their own operating system.

Reuters reports that China is working on getting their operating system functional and usable by October to take on the big American companies that are working their way in. Computers and computer security have long been an issue with China and The United States. Companies like Microsoft and Google have many rules they most follow in order to operate there, most of which are withholding information from Chinese citizens. So it makes sense that the Chinese would want their own OS and browsers to better control the flow of data. The operating systems is slated to head to desktops first and then move into the mobile space. There are no details on exactly what is coming or how the OS will work but they’re working quickly to get it done as they see the big three as a threat.

Ni Guangnan

“We hope to launch a Chinese-made desktop operating system by October supporting app stores,” Ni told the trade paper. Some Chinese OS already existed, but there was a large gap between China’s technology and that of developed countries, he added.

Guangnan is hoping this new OS will replace any desktop OS’s (such as Windows and OSX) in the next two years and mobile OS’s in the next five years.
