Sony’s Flagship Xperia Z3 Is Coming To Verizon As The Z3v

The Sony Xperia Z3, with it’s stylish looks, 20.7 mp camera, and PS4 remote play has made quite the splash in the mobile market. That’s okay though because the device is waterproof up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

With Sony’s “Demand Great” event today, we got a glimpse of a Verizon variant of the Z3. Coming October 23rd, the Z3v should be available for purchase. There are a few changes from the Z3 we saw earlier this fall, so before you get your preorder in let’s take a look at what’s new.

The most notable difference between the Z3 and the Z3v is the design. While many have praised the design of the Z3, the Z3v takes a step back to the previous generation Z2 of which it appears to resemble more.

The Z3v contains the same 3200 mAh battery we’ve seen in the Z3, and it does include the contactless inductive Qi charging. The “over 2 day” usage has been dropped however to “over a day” now on this variant, so it should be interesting to see what changes caused this drop.

The PS4 Remote Play is still present in the Z3v, and will allow you to connect your phone to your PS4 to remotely play games using the Dualshock 4 wireless controller. This is one of the most talked about features of the Z3, and it’s nice to see that it has not been removed from the Z3v version.

The device should be available October 23rd, for $199.99 on a 2 year contract.  Only black and white will be available in so you’ll be missing out on the various other colors from the Z3, but it appears Verizon will be offering the Sony SmartWatch 3 alongside the Z3v later this month.

There’s been no word on a Z3 compact version coming to Verizon at this point.
