Watch: The First Official Trailer For Telltale’s Game Of Thrones (Finally!)

We’ve been reporting on hints of rumors and details about Telltale Game’s adapation of Game of Thrones for months now, dating back to when one prominent writer for Destiny jumped ship to join the upcoming point-and-click adventure, to a series of leaked images that pointed to the game following the HBO show instead of the book series it is based on. The first official trailer has finally dropped and it confirms a lot of our suspicious.

For one, the game is indeed following the uber-popular HBO show Game of Thrones and not George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire book series. It’s completely understandable, as it provides the game with a large number of recognizable locations and faces for players to interact with and it keeps the target audience for the game very broad. Sure, you and all your friends may have read A Song of Ice and Fire, but a lot less people have dedicated the time to read the five (and counting) books than have sat down for an hour to watch some innocent people get beheaded on Game of Thrones once a week.

As it was shown in the series of leaked images a few days ago, Tyrion Lannister, Margaery Tyrell, Cersei Lannister, and Ramsay Snow are all present and sporting the look of their Game of Thrones actors. Various locations, including King’s Land and The Wall, are also teased as making appearances in the game.

Game of Thrones: Iron From Ice will tell its story from the perspective of the brand new House Forrester, wherein you control the minor house as it gets caught up in the War of the Five Kings. It’s an interesting twist on the Telltale formula in that you’ll be determining the fate of entire house, and not just one or a handful of people in a contained story. As anyone who has read A Song of Ice and Fire or watched Game of Thrones knows, every decision in Westeros has the ability to snowball and have long-reaching effects on the political structure of the various kingdoms and houses.

Episode of one of the six-part adventure will be titled “Iron From Ic”e and is “premiering soon” according to the trailer. Depending on how soon, this could also line up with the rumor that the game could be coming before the end of the year.

Check out the trailer below, and let us know if you’re as excited as we are! Unless of course you are George R.R. Martin and somehow stumbled on this article. In which case, please close this browser and get back to writing The Winds of Winter, before the HBO show passes you.
