A playable version of the upcoming Star Fox Wii U will be present at E3 2015. Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed the demo will be available to E3 attendees during a Q&A session with Smosh Games. Through Nintendo Marketing Manager Bill Trinen’s translation it was revealed that a version of Star Fox Wii U will be “playable by everyone,” and it will feature a cockpit view on the Wii U’s GamePad screen.
So far we’ve only seen some blurry footage (and the clear still image featured above) of the game from last year’s E3 when it was first revealed that Miyamoto was working on the next Star Fox game along with several other titles that take unique advantage of the Wii U’s second screen capabilities. It was also casually mentioned during a demo video of the next Legend of Zelda entry shown during The Video Game Awards that Star Fox Wii U would be coming out sometime in 2015.
Outside of those few details, little is actually known about Star Fox Wii U as it has been closely kept under wraps by Nintendo, but fact that it will be playable at E3 is a great sign for anyone hoping to have the game in their hands before 2016. Nintendo is notoriously cagey about letting the general public play games when they are in a rough state, so it may be a sign that the game is very near completion. During the Smosh Q&A Trinen also stated the he has playing the game “every day,” which also could point to it being at an advanced stage of development.
