First Trailer For Tina Fey's Netflix-Exclusive Comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

|

Netflix has released the first trailer for their upcoming exclusive comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. The series is produced by 30 Rock executive producers Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, and stars Ellie Kemper (Erin from The Office) as “a woman who is rescued from a doomsday cult and starts life over as a nanny for the Upper East Side socialites.”
From the official synopsis:

After living in a cult for fifteen years, Kimmy (Ellie Kemper – The Office) decides to reclaim her life and start over in New York City. Armed with just a backpack, light-up sneakers, and a couple of way-past-due library books, she’s ready to take on a world she didn’t even think existed anymore. Wide-eyed but resilient, nothing is going to stand in her way. She quickly finds a new job (working for 30 Rock‘s Jane Krakowski), a new roommate (Tituss Burgess – 30 Rock), and a new beginning. The cast also includes Lauren Adams, Sara Chase, Sol Miranda and Emmy winner Carol Kane (Taxi, The Princess Bride).

In the 2-minute trailer below, the series already gives off a lot of the same vibes of 30 Rock, mixed with a standard fish-out-of-water premise as the main character escapes her doomsday cult that had her locked in a bomb shelter. Ellie Kemper is very Ellie Kemper, and Jane Krakowski seems like she could be Jenna Maroney ripped straight from the set of 30 Rock and we would be none the wiser.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has had a rocky path to getting a release, having been passed on by several studios despite the all-star cast and crew tied to it, but it has finally found a well-deserved home. All thirteen episodes of the series will premier on March 6, 2015 exclusively on Netflix.
