32 New Star Wars LEGO Sets Announced, Including 1,700-Piece TIE Fighter

Gadgets & Toys / Movies

Disney and LucasArts have teamed up with LEGO to announce 32 brand-new Star Wars-themed sets, including a massive 1,700-piece TIE Fighter. The treasure trove of Star Wars vehicles and characters now in LEGO form was announced at the New York City Toy Fair; it is a collection that LEGO is calling “one of the largest and most diverse since [Star Wars sets] launched in 1999.” Of the new Star Wars LEGO sets, Lego Group vice president of licensing and entertainment Jill Wilfert said:

For more than 15 years, children and kids at heart have told and retold the ‘Star Wars’ story through LEGO brick play, and this year we will give them even more characters and elements to recreate the epic saga — including several sets with which to add ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ to their building adventures.

Sets range anywhere in Star Wars mythos from the original trilogy, to the prequels, to the multiple TV shows that have aired on Disney and Cartoon Network. Everything from the Imperial Troop transports from Episode II to adorable little LEGO AT-AT Microfighters adapted from Episode V are present in the huge list of new toys that should have any Star Wars or LEGO fan drooling.
In addition to the multiple vehicles, there are also characters ready to be created and displayed (or played with) when they release. “Constructable action figures” of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader will be available this September for $20 as a set. This Luke and Vader set will be the first of many “Star Wars Construction sets,” which will let you build iconic characters into Bionicle-looking figurines.
