Chris Pratt Not Intimidated By The Idea Of Playing Indiana Jones

While attending the Academy Awards on Sunday night in support of Guardians of the Galaxy, actor Chris Pratt was asked about the talk of him potentially starring in a new Indiana Jones film. Rumors of such a casting surfaced last month when the idea of Pratt playing the iconic adventurer first came to light, and the flames were fanned earlier this month when Steven Spielberg reportedly expressed interest in working with Pratt on a reboot.
When Pratt stated that the idea of playing Indiana Jones is not something “overwhelming to contemplate,” the interviewer jokingly stated that not being intimidated by such a proposition is the true mark of Indiana Jones to which Pratt replied “Oh yeah ok, then I’m a true Indiana Jones.” He also danced around the question of if he’s actually been contacted, simply stating “it’s all nothing ’till it’s something and so far it’s not something.”

If the Spielberg/Pratt team up happens for an Indiana Jones film, it likely wouldn’t be for a while. Pratt has Jurassic World coming out later this year, and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is slated for a 2017 release. Along with the scheduled Indiana Jones 5, Spielberg is also expected to begin working on an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The BFG, which is currently in pre-production but is earmarked for a 2016 release.
Neither Chris Pratt nor Guardians of the Galaxy took home any Oscars, but the James Gunn film was nominated for Achievement in visual effects as well as Achivement in makeup and hairstyling. It lost to Interstellar and The Grand Budapest Hotel, respectively.
