Xbox and Universal have announced a stand alone DLC expansion to Forza Horizon 2. On March 27th, Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious will launch on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. As this is a standalone expansion, players do not need to purchase the full Forza Horizon 2 game in order to experience it. In conjunction with the Furious 7 launch, Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious launches on March 27th and will be free, yes FREE, until April 10th. After that it can still be downloaded at the cost of $10 – but gamers who snag it beforehand will continue to be able to play without having to dish out the $10.
“Forza is synonymous with racing and fun, so it’s only natural for us to work with one of the most celebrated automotive entertainment franchises in the world,” said Phil Spencer, head of Xbox. “This is a great way to bring Forza players into the world of Fast & Furious, and in Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious, every fan will get a chance to go wheels-first into the exciting action of the Fast & Furious franchise.”
In the expansion, players will be recruited by Tej Parker (voiced by Chris “Ludacris” Bridges) and compete in a number of challenges while racing through the southern France countryside as they source out cars for the next big Fast & Furious mission. Vehicles included will be Fast & Furious Editions of the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, 2012 Nissan GT-R, 1998 Toyota Supra, 2014 Maserati Ghibli S, 1970 Plymouth Road Runner, 2015 Dodge Charger R/T, 1970 Plymouth Cuda Fast & Furious Edition, and the 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
“Furious 7 is the latest installment in our enormously successful franchise, and partnering with the world-class team at Turn 10 Studios offered an exceptional opportunity to thank our fans in an exciting way,” said Bill Kispert, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Digital Platforms, Universal Partnerships & Licensing. “In this adventure, fans will experience the thrill of the Fast & Furious series’ most iconic cars through the amazing gameplay of Forza. We can’t think of a better combination for gamers and movie fans alike.”
Both the Fast & Furious movies and Forza games have been successful, and it makes sense that the pair would team up in this endeavour. I for one am looking forward to screaming around in not only the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T but also the 2015 Dodge Charger R/T – too bad it wasn’t the Hellcat though!
