Energizer Android Phones have made their second appearance in public this year, the first round was at CES2015 and now Energizer has pulled them out once again at MWC2015. The phones are not manufactured by Energizer themselves, rather they are relying on Avenir Telecom for the heavy lifting while Energizer is providing the power and name recognition. Battery life is the key selling point of the Energizer line of phones dubbed Energizer Hard Case. Avenir Telecom is one of the main European distributors of mobile phones products and services
There are a total of 4 phones in the lineup (Energy 200, 240, 400 and 500) – two feature phones and two Android smartphones. Feature phones are nothing really special other than their rugged usefulness. The other two are indeed smartphones and yes they are IP68 rated and you probably won’t need a case for them whatsoever but both the 400 and 500 are shipping with Android 4.4 Kit Kat already making them a step behind the mainstream Android market.
While these phones are being marketed towards the more rugged user, it is disappointing to see a new product pushing out old software. The Energizer line reminds me a lot of the CAT branded phones which also held a lot of the same rugged specs. The Hard Case 400 and 500 are boasting 2,500 and 3,000 mAh batteries and according to Energizer you’ll get twice the life of an iPhone 6. No word on if the line will get a Lollipop upgrade or not but this might be a good choice for the more rugged user who needs long battery life, that is if you can deal with not having the latest Android OS. What do you think of these rugged Android phones? Would you consider them even without Lollipop? Let us know in the comments below or on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
