Continuing the “family” trailer trend leading up to the game’s release, the latest Mortal Kombat X trailer features fan-favorite Jax Briggs and his daughter Jacqui Briggs. The cybernetic father/daughter duo have been confirmed to be in Mortal Kombat X for some time, but this is their first time appearing in a combat-focused trailer for the game.
Jax first appeared in Mortal Kombat II as a member of the Special Forces, and has appeared in 15 Mortal Kombat games since. His brutal and cybernetic-enhanced style already fits perfectly in the goretastic MKX, as he’s seen in this trailer ripping out ribs and stabbing his enemies in the head with them – all while never losing his cigarette.
This will be the first appearance for Jax’s daughter Jacqueline “Jacqui” Briggs, who has chosen to follow in her father’s footsteps in the Outworld Investigation Agency Special Forces. She’s shown in the trailer with an ineffective ranged attack (ineffective against Ermac, at least), and quick, light-hitting combos.
The Briggs family joins an ever-expanding Mortal Kombat X roster which already includes Erron Black, Tremor, Scorpion, Kuai Liang, Sinnok, Ermac, and even some unique fighters such as Predator and Jason Voorhees thrown in.
Mortal Kombat X, the tenth game in the primary Mortal Kombat series, is set to release April 14 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions following mid-2015.
