The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Goes Gold; Features FREE DLC

Gaming / PC / PlayStation / Xbox
The highly anticipated The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, has finally gone gold. The third installment in The Witcher game series based on a series of short stories and novels by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski will have players roaming an open world as monster slayer for hire Geralt of Rivia as you track down the Child of Prophecy.

“We worked so damn hard over the past three years to bring you this game,” said Adam Badowski, Head of Studio, CD PROJEKT RED. “From the corrupt nobles in Novigrad to ancient monsters lurking in deep forests, to the bustling cities, colorful ports and breathtaking vistas; all the people, all the places — we literally spent tens of thousands of hours to turn all that into an adventure that will kick your ass and make you want to come for more,” adds Badowski. “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has gone GOLD and will soon be yours!” he concludes.

Not only does The Witcher 3 feature an open world, armour and weapon upgrades, but it will also feature 16 DLC bundles including armor sets, hairstyle sets, alternative looks for characters and additional quests. Where CD PROJEKT RED differs from other developers is that all 16 DLC items will be FREE – all gamers need to do is own a copy of the game. No pre-orders, no season pass, nothing – just free DLC. As Marcin Iwiński, co-founder and Joint CEO of CD PROJEKT RED says:

“You don’t have to pre-order, you don’t have to buy any special edition to get them — if you own a copy of Wild Hunt, they’re yours. This is our way of saying thank you for buying our game.”

I don’t know about you, but I wish more studios would follow this line of thinking! Check out the latest gameplay video, then let us know if you’ll be picking up The Witcher 3 in the comments below, or on Google+, Twitter, Tumblr, or Facebook.

The follow up to 2011’s The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings launches May 19th, 2015, on Xbox One, Windows PC, and PlayStation®4 with the first two DLC bundles being released on May 20th.
