My Five Favorite Android Wear Watch Faces

, , , ,

We all like seeing different watch faces on our Android Wear device whether it be the Moto 360, LG G/R/Urbane, the Samsung Gear Live, etc. but I’ve come to enjoy these five watch faces that I have used since getting my Moto 360 back in September 2014. More and more tend to be released and that isn’t a bad thing because we all like trying/seeing something new for Android Wear watch faces.

This will be my personal list of 5 favorite watch faces starting from #5 with #1 being my favorite that just so happens to be my daily driver…daily watch face? Let’s get to it then shall we?

5. Nap Cats Watch Face ($1.49)

nap cats

Cats. We can’t enough of them. Never can and never will. Nap Cats was developed by ATEKTURA/ and is a simple watch face that basically shows cats sleeping in a different position for each day of the week. The background colors also change as the day changes. The watch is definitely cute and worth $1.49 if you’re a cat person, or even if you aren’t one. There’s a little extra you get with buying the watch face, a widget for your phone! Now you get to see another cat during your day at work or out and about.

4. STATION – Watch Face ($0.99)

STATION was created by “Tha PHLASH” who is also an icon developer and creator of another watch face, NAVI. Upon first seeing this watch face in a video by Kevin Nether, AKA “The Tech Ninja” I got a little curious to see how it really looked on my wrist. Once downloaded and updated to my watch, I automatically liked it. Reading the date and time was easy along with easy controls for changing the theme and color. Putting the settings to minimal or ambient mode was ok, but I couldn’t get used to not seeing numbers. As the description says “Tha STATION is a modern watch face with many settings and a futuristic clean look.” there’s no doubt about how futuristic and clean it looks. Good job Tha PHLASH. Excellent watch face.

3. Magic Dust Watch Face ($0.99)

Magic Dust is another watch face created by ATEKTURA/. To start off with, you get another widget for buying this watch face. The first part of the app description reads: “Something new. Extraordinary. Simple and outstanding. Enjoy this ultra-minimalistic watch face with beautiful, dynamic particles.” All is very true and this watch face is fun to look at. Three options are available to choose from. Original skin – an analog watch with mesmerizing hands that arise and die in an infinite loop, Meteora skin – another analog one that will make you feel like you’re in cosmic space, chasing comets, and Ninja skin – a classic digital face with sparkling, simple background. Though I didn’t use this watch face much, the moving particles were cool. ATEKTURA/, looking good.

2. Watch Face – Minimal & Elegant ($0.99)

A lot goes on for this watch face while keeping the minimal and elegant look. Studio eXtreme added an add on called “Little Worlds” that is basically you having the ability to change the background, background color, text, and brightness. 12 and 24 hour time is an option as well. Backgrounds offer cities, the safari, the desert, and more. There are also multiple colors to choose from. You can use the pre-set ones or mix and match your own. Can’t wait for the next update to see what it brings to the table. More backgrounds hopefully.

1. Pure Watch Face (free)

Pure is my all time favorite and my most used watch face. Something about this watch face makes it my favorite, but I don’t know why. Must be because it’s a simple gray background with an option for Digital or Analog time. The developer Zuhanden did great work on such a simple watch face. Props.
