We’ve reviewed many portable battery chargers here at Techaeris, with varying battery sizes. Our latest device comes from Scosche and is a 5000mAh portable battery pack that charges two devices at once. Find out what we thought in our Scosche goBAT II review.
Design
The Scosche goBAT II portable battery pack features a pretty simple design. The 5000mAh battery is housed in a smooth, glossy plastic enclosure, with the side edges being curved. The top of the battery pack is embossed with the Scosche logo, and a button for checking the remaining battery levels sits on the upper left corner just above the four lights which turn blue when the button is pressed. The left side of the device is where you’ll find the 5V 2.1A and 5V 1A USB ports as well as the microUSB charging input port. It’s a simple design that works well, and is pretty lightweight to boot.
Performance
The goBAT II performs pretty much as expected. I was able to charge my Nexus 5 from 49-100%, then from 18-100% while charging a Tab 3 10.1 from 42-68% on a single charge. It does take a bit of time to recharge, both times it took just under 6 hours to fully charge. Having two USB charging ports is a bonus, especially considering one of them is a 2.1A output allowing you to charge at least one of your devices more quickly.
Price/Value
The goBAT II is a bit small on the power side with only 5000 mAh but for the price it’s a great deal for a few quick charges while out and about, especially with two USB ports for charging. The goBAT II portable battery pack is currently $39.99 on Scosche’s website, or can be found on Amazon.com for just over $20.
Wrap-Up
With dual USB charging ports and a 5000mAh battery, the Scosche goBAT II is a great little portable power pack for recharging your devices on the go. If you’re looking for affordable power on the go, you might want to check it out.
