Work Faster And Smarter With The Sonder Keyboard

Even with the increasing popularity of tablets, the keyboard is still a staple of day to day computer use. Sonder Design has designed a new keyboard which is supposed to make your computing life easier. The Sonder keyboard allows you to customize the keys on your keyboard based on what app or game you are playing, as well as switch languages or even keyboard layout from QWERTY to DVORAK depending on your needs.

Many programs utilize shortcuts to make workflow easier and increase productivity. Depending on the program it can be easy for a user to become inundated with shortcuts, and even long time users usually only remember the ones they use most frequently. With the Sonder keyboard, users can set the keyboard up to display those shortcuts right on the keyboard and its transparent keys. As mentioned above, the keyboard layout isn’t just limited to applications but can also be customized for gaming, different languages, and different typing layouts.

From Photoshop to Half Life, the customization options are endless.

Sonder has also designed and engineered the Sonder keyboard for crisp, responsive typing, and the advanced fiber optic waveguide will light up the keyboard in darker settings. The keyboard can be paired using Bluetooth to any device – Mac, PC, tablet, smartphone – that uses an input device. The keyboard uses E-ink keys to display the customized key functions and users can download and share layouts from Sonder’s online library once the keyboard has launched.

“We have been overwhelmed by the love the creative and international community has shown us and the demand for our keyboard,” said Francisco, Lead Product Architect at Sonder Design.

From OS X to Photoshop to Half Life layouts, this keyboard definitely has us intrigued at the seemingly endless possibilities for custom keyboard layouts. Sonder Design has already raised $20,000 in a single day of pre-orders (you can pre-order the keyboard from the Sonder Design website, currently $100 off the regular price of $299) and will be launching a Kickstarter campaign as soon as possible. The keyboard is expected to release later this year for $199 on Kickstarter and a $350USD retail price once it hits stores.
