iPhone Handgun Case Causes Stir Among Law Enforcement

, , ,

There are hundreds if not thousands of cases for the iPhone out on the market right now, many of them awesome and a lot of them not so much. One of those cases is now causing a stir among law enforcement officials and probably for good reason. The iPhone handgun case seems like a novel idea but not all ideas are great ideas. The case is literally shaped to look like a semi-automatic handgun, with pistol grip and all. The phone itself is held in the area one would consider the barrel and the case even comes with an app that completes the look.

Most kids carry their cell phone in their back pocket, and if someone reaches for it, in my mind they’re reaching for a gun,” said Al Della Fave, a retired New Jersey state trooper and firearms instructor.

Della Fave said that if a teenager draws the phone in the presence of a cop “the first thing they’re going to see as it’s coming up is the trigger guard and the butt of the gun. This doesn’t seem like a good idea at all to me.

The app that is included also has gun games one can play such as Russian Roulette. I would have to agree with Della Fave, this just doesn’t seem like a good idea. It’s not safe for anyone, police or people who have one of these, too much could go wrong.iPhone_Gun_Case_back

This isn’t the first gun-shaped iPhone case, as the Register pointed one out back in 2013. But this particular case has definitely caught the attention of law enforcement, and really, why would you want to bring that sort of attention to yourself?
