George Coe Passes Away At 86

Over the weekend we lost a great actor, George Coe.  Recently he has been known for his work on Archer, the hit animated TV series on FX, as Archer’s butler Woodhouse.  George has done much more than that though, he dedicated more than 50 years of his life to TV, film, and video game voice acting.  Chances are that you have enjoyed something he has been in over the years.

Aside from voice acting on Archer George was also the voice of Wheeljack in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, did voices for Celebrity Deathmatch, and for Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series.  He has also helped in a few video games including The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Guild Wars 2, and Star Wars: The Old Republic.

George was in too many TV shows to list but was an original member of Saturday Night Live when it first aired and has been in all kinds of various shows and genres such as Magnum P.I.,The Golden Girls, Matlock, Columbo, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Murder, She Wrote, Home Improvement, Smallville, The West Wing, Gilmore Girls, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Nip/Tuck, Grey’s Anatomy, Two and a Half Men, Wilfred, and many more.

In his long career he was also in many movies.  A majority were made for TV movies but he has also been in some well known big name films such as Kramer vs. Kramer, Blind Date, The Mighty Ducks, The Entity, and Funny People.

It is unknown what will happen to Woodhouse in Archer now that George Coe has passed away.  I wonder if they will cast someone new for his voice or send him off in a dramatic over the top way as a tribute to him leaving Archer without a butler and having to fend for himself.

Rest in peace George Coe, thanks for all the contributions you made to the entertainment industry.
