The Star Wars franchise has been making a lot of gains recently, what with a new videogame in the works and a movie set to drop in December, it’s a good time to be both a Star Wars fan, and quite possibly, a Jedi Knight. Now, a group in Singapore has taken it a step further, and is providing us mere mortals with the chance to learn how to wield the most powerful weapon in the Jedi’s arsenal.
Well, second-most powerful. We humans still lack the understanding to make the Force work for us, but at the Saber Authority facility in Singapore, humans can learn how to properly wield a lightsaber.
The facility specializes in teaching students from the bottom-up. No fancy tricks here; you start with the basics of sword training and work your way up. Once you’ve proven yourself at basic defense and offense skills, the Saber Authority offers lessons in single saber, double saber, and saber staff techniques. Most of the classes even provide a saber for a student to use while there. It all sounds super-cool, but there is a drawback to this facility.
It’s in Singapore. And I’m in America.
Not to be deterred, I did a little bit of digging, looking for some places in the states to hone your and my Jedi potential. And there are dozens of them, located all over the United States. So, don’t feel like you’re limited by your inability to travel to Singapore. There are ways around that. Or, if a formal lightsaber academy isn’t your thing, consider just a regular martial arts studio. Many of them offer classes in weapons training, and I can personally confirm that the bruising will go down after a couple of sessions.
The future is now guys. With lightsaber training, new Star Wars movies, and geek culture on the rise, it won’t be long until we have finally grasped the ability to use the Force.
Until that time comes, what better way to impress at your next cosplay event then by whipping out a lightsaber and challenging that guy who wore the same costume as you?[button type=”link” link=”http://sourcefed.com/learn-the-ways-of-the-jedi-at-a-singapore-lightsaber-academy/” variation=”btn-danger” target=”blank”]Source: SourceFed[/button]
