New Gears of War 4 Trailer Hits Right In The Feels

While we’ve seen gameplay from Gears of War 4 before, we haven’t really seen anything in regards to the story. That changed a little last night with the debut of a Gears of War 4 trailer during last night’s episode of Fear the Walking Dead  on AMC. The trailer, dubbed “Tomorrow” gives us a glimpse of Marcus Fenix that we haven’t seen before as it cuts back and forth between the past and JD Fenix, Marcus’ son, in the present.

Enough rambling, check it out below:

Reminiscent of the main trailer for the very first Gears of War game which featured a cover of the track “Mad World” by Gary Jules, this time the trailer for Gears of War 4 features the cover of “The Sound of Silence” by Disturbed — and it fits the mood quite well. We really don’t get much in the way of what the story is about yet, but we do see Marcus Fenix carving JD’s initials into at tree when JD was but a child, and now we end up seeing JD crouched behind the same — but fallen — tree just before being attacked, tying it all together. The feels!

The Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta starts next week for Xbox Live Gold members who have played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, with the open beta running from April 25th through May 1st for all Xbox Live Gold members. The game releases on Xbox One on October 11th.

In the meantime, check out the full video and track for “The Sound of Silence” as featured in the trailer.
