Nothing is sacred anymore when it comes to consumer technology, and new “spy” photos of a MacBook Pro chassis are proving that. Cult of Mac has gotten its hands on some new photos that are supposedly fresh pics of a MacBook Pro chassis that nearly confirms the rumored OLED bar. If you look at the photos you’ll see right above the number keys a blank area with a connector on one end that appears to be where the OLED bar will rest. Of course these MacBook Pro chassis photos aren’t confirmed to be authentic and Cult of Mac says the source is anonymous. They do confirm the source is a manufacturing partner out of China.
You can also see that there are four cutouts, two on each side, that appear to be USB Type-C ports pointing to all ports being replaced by USB Type-C. The only other port that is visible is what appears to be a headphone jack. So gone are the Thunderbolt ports, HDMI port as well as the SD card slot and of course the MagSafe 2 connector (bummer).
Apple is due to refresh the MacBook Pro lineup as it hasn’t changed much over the past years and adding an OLED bar should be interesting and a departure for Apple. The new MacBook Pro should also have a Force Touch trackpad. The keyboard looks to have remained the same, not adopting the keyboard from the 12″ MacBook, but it’s not totally clear from the images. We’re also expecting the hinge from the 12″ MacBook to show up here to make the MacBook Pro even thinner than previous generations.
