Flamingo: A New Android Twitter App With Deep Customization

Twitter apps have been a mixed bag on Android, some have been good, some have been great, and some have been horrible. Some have had little to no support while others have had great support but still lack some key features. Flamingo, a new Android Twitter app currently in beta, blasted out of the gates full steam with the standard bevy of Twitter features along with slick deep customization features. Before grabbing Flamingo I was running the popular Twitter app Fenix. Fenix has been one of the better known and well liked Twitter apps for Android, and I really didn’t have too many complaints about it.

But my Google+ stream was teeming with posts about Flamingo today and I had to hit the Play Store to check out what the fuss was. Flamingo is currently on sale for 99 cents, which is dirt cheap, so I picked it up because why the heck not? On start up you’re greeted with a login screen and once you have that out of the way you get into your Twitter timeline. At first glance it’s pretty standard, blue and white and really not much to look at but I was promised deep customization so I went hunting into the settings.

Sure enough, in the settings menu you can set colors for just about every element of the app, making the entire interface uniquely yours. You can set font sizes and lines spacing and you can even choose from preset themes if you don’t want to get that granular. The entire app is really well done, especially considering it’s still in beta. Flamingo is likely going to be my permanent Twitter client replacing Fenix and if you’re using a different Twitter app you love now… spend the 99 cents and just give Flamingo a go, you might end up switching.

Are you using Flamingo for Android? If so, let us know what you think of it in the comments below, or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook. And if you aren’t using it yet, you can pick up it up at the link below.
