Pokémon GO has created a firestorm of controversy on the internet with some praising the game for getting people outside and others cursing it for creating havoc. While there may be a huge divide between those who love the game and those who hate it, one thing both sides can agree with is you should probably avoid crashing into a police car when playing it. That’s what happened to one Pokémon GO player in Baltimore when he was distracted with throwing Poké Balls and ran into the back of a police car.
Watch the video below to get a good idea of what *not* to do.
While the game is fun for some, people should also use common sense when playing it and know that it is a major distraction. Operating a motor vehicle or heavy equipment is highly discouraged as you could harm yourself or someone else. But beyond slamming into a police car, you should also take care when playing on foot. Watching where you’re walking to avoid wandering into traffic, power poles, or into other pedestrians is probably a good practice. People are already distracted with texting and surfing, now add Pokémon GO to the mix and we’ve got even less people watching where they’re walking.
Moral of the story? If you want to play Pokémon GO, then go ahead and play it. Just please be careful. We’ve already seen too many stories about players getting hurt, causing damage to property, littering or generally being disrespectful to property, and those are the types of things that ruin the game for everybody. So catch ’em all if you want to, but don’t give all other players a bad name in the process.
Have you been distracted while playing Pokémon GO? What’s the worst Pokémon GO story you’ve seen so far? Tell us all about it in the comment section below, or on Google+, Facebook, or Twitter.
