JLab introduces Epic Air true wireless earbuds, enters wire-free wars

Since Apple has decided that its users don’t really need to use the headphone jack anymore, companies are turning to both wireless and wire-free solutions. JLab is introducing their entrant into the wire-free wars with the aptly named, Epic Air. These “true wireless” earbuds look pretty amazing and certainly look nicer than Apple’s Air Pods. Not only are they nicer looking than Apple’s offering, but the suggested MSRP is slightly cheaper as well at $149.99. I’m crossing my fingers that JLab had found a good solution to some of the other wire-free earbuds with latency issues in video, that would be amazing. The full press release is below the video.

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – October 20, 2016 – The award-winning audio company, JLab Audio, enters the true wireless earbud market with their Epic Air Bluetooth Earbuds. Shipping February 2017 at MSRP $149.99, the earbuds feature a patent-pending antenna earhook, providing a powerful Bluetooth connection, and the most robust battery in the true wireless market. The revolutionary design strengthens Bluetooth connectivity so consumers won’t have to worry about cutouts or skips. Each earhook contains a Bluetooth antenna so the device to earbud connection is stronger and more versatile. Learn more at jlabaudio.com/epicair.

Along with connectivity and secure fit, the Epic Air features a six-hour battery life in the earbuds, the best in any true wireless earbud, and the included charging case offers 30 more hours of battery life. The versatile charging case can also charge out to any device and features lights to indicate the battery level, the most advanced power solution in the market.

“The JLab Epic Air is a refreshing innovation of true wireless earbuds designed with fitness in mind,” says JLab Audio CEO Win Cramer. “Our battery life and charging solution blow away anything out there – and our Bluetooth connectivity design is so impressive, we patented it. We’re excited to set the bar for comfort, fit, battery life and true wireless performance.”

Among the other Epic Air features are their IPX5 splashproof rating and wireless, universal controls. The IPX5 rating, which is also currently being tested at higher levels, allows the earbuds to hold up against sweat, outdoor elements, and a rinse-off, making them your ultimate multi-purpose earbud. The controls require only a tap or two on each earbud. The right earbud will track forward and track backward and the left earbud will play and pause.
