Terrapin case review: Budget minded cases for your iPhone

|
, , ,

We do plenty of case reviews here for the iPhone, and a lot of the time the cases we review are fairly pricey but also high quality. However, we’re not afraid to take a look at more budget-minded offerings also, and that’s exactly what Terrapin offers with these two cases for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Read on for the full review of the Terrapin Ultra Slim Fit Hybrid and Terrapin Folio Wallet Cover Flip.

Terrapin Ultra Slim Fit Hybrid

Terrapin

Design

These are very simple solid colors with ample cutouts for the volume rocker and power button as well as the Lightning port. No, the design isn’t anything to write home about, but it is simple and straight forward. The soft touch material is nice and grippy, but it does collect fingerprints pretty easily (I guess better the case than your phone).

Installation

Nothing to just snapping it right into place. That’s all it takes.

Protection

Very minimal protection but then again, it is a slim case. It will take a decent spill, but it’s certainly not going to take anything rough. The raised lip on the front is welcome for protection when laying it flat on a table.

Price/Value

At $7.95 it’s hard to argue here, plus it’s Prime eligible, so shipping is free for Prime members.

Terrapin Folio Wallet Cover Flip

Note from Terrapin: We’d just like to clarify that our leather case is in fact made from genuine cow hide. For more information on the

Design

First let’s get the most glaring issue out of the way for this particular case. It is advertised as leather, but in reality, it is not. There’s not even a hint of leather smell from this thing, and that is disappointing considering that’s what they say it’s made of. With the major con out of the way let’s talk about some good points. With this design you have the ability to carry credit cards and IDs with you, and that’s pretty awesome for some folks. The overall girth of the wallet is pretty significant, so be prepared to have a bulky piece of hardware in your purse or pocket, but that’s to be expected from these types of cases.

Installation

Again, simply snap the phone into place and you’re ready to go.

Protection

With the front, back, sides top and bottom all pretty much covered, this is going to offer some pretty great protection. The only thing that might happen is the wallet may flip open in a fall, but I don’t see that as a problem.

Price/Value

For just under $16 it’s not a bad price at all and free shipping for Amazon Prime members.

Wrap Up

If you can overlook the fact that this isn’t leather then it’s a good deal.
