[UPDATED] Netflix Twitter account hacked by OurMine

|
,

The Netflix Twitter account has been hacked by hacking group OurMine this morning and it seems to still be in control of it. The messages posted to the Netflix Twitter account just say “Don’t worry, we are just testing your security, contact us to tell you more about that.” The Tweet also has a contact email for OurMine. As I am writing this article it seems the Tweets on the Netflix Twitter account aren’t available but we do have screenshots to show what was taking place. As you can see it seems the hack started with the Tweet, “Don’t bite my dog.”

UPDATE 12/21/2016 11:00(CST): Netflix has responded to our request for comment with the following:

The compromise was limited to a US Twitter account and has been resolved.

The hacking group OurMine has done this to other high-profile accounts in the past and it seems they may be wrestling for control of the Netflix Twitter account. We’ve been able to click on the Tweets and see them and other times we click it says Tweet is unavailable. We will be reaching out to Netflix for comment, though I am sure we won’t get one until this is all resolved.

Twitter security has been a hot topic lately as other celebrities and brands have had their accounts hacked and defaced. While the hacking isn’t a good thing, in some ways it does help Twitter see the holes in its security. We’ll try and update you once we know what is going on for certain.

What do you think of this latest OurMine hack of a Twitter account? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.
