Wireless charging was one of those things that — in my opinion — never took off as well as it should. Some phones still support it though, and there are a few companies still making wireless charging pads to support those devices. Our Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Pad review takes a look at a 15W Qi wireless charging device that works with Qi compatible devices.

Design
The Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Pad is a bit larger than other charging pads we’ve tested in the past. Circular in shape, the charging pad is just over 4 1/2″ in diameter and just under 3/4″ thick. The charger is constructed of a silver plastic that tapers down to a 3 1/2″ base. The base has a matte surface with the Belkin logo in the middle and provides a good grip on the surface it is sitting on. The AC adapter port is located at the top of the base and the adapter cord fits nicely inside its slot.
The top plate also has a matte surface with a small exposed silver ring. The middle section of the top plate has the Belkin logo as well. On the right side of the top plate is a small light that turns green when you’re charging a device.
Even though it is slightly larger than other charging pads we’ve tested, it’s a pretty decent looking device.
Ease of Use
As with most wireless charging pads, the Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Pad is super easy to use. Simply attach the AC power adapter, plug it into an AC wall outlet, and place your smartphone or another Qi-enabled device on the charger.
Performance
The key selling feature of the Belking Boost Up Wireless Charging Pad is that it has 15W of output which should translate into faster wireless charging for your device. The big caveat here though is that the maximum wireless charging speed will be based on the maximum allowed by your device.
During testing, our Nexus 5 displayed “Charging slowly” while using the Belkin wireless charging pad, however, it also displays the same message on other wireless charging pads. We also tested it with a Samsung Galaxy Note5, and when placed on the pad it displayed “Fast charging wirelessly,” indicating that it was indeed charging quickly.
Belkin also indicates that the charging pad works through cases up to 3mm thick, in the case of our Nexus 5 it wouldn’t charge through the case but we also have a metal plate in the case for sticking to magnetic phone mounts so that most likely contributed to the issue.
As such, we’ve given the performance score a 5, but your mileage will vary depending on if your device supports fast charging wirelessly or not.
Price/Value
With an MSRP of $69.99USD, the Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Pad is easily triple the price of other 15W wireless chargers. However, Belkin does have a strong reputation and also includes a $2500USD Connected Equipment Warranty which covers your device if something happens during regular intended use of the charging pad. Sure, there are cheaper options out there but if peace of mind is what you’re after, the extra cost might be worth it for you. This charging pad would be more tempting if the price was closer to $40USD and only if I had a device that supported fast wireless charging.
Wrap-up
The Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Pad is easy to use and definitely offers fast wireless charging for Qi-enabled devices that support it.
