Need to change the look of your AirPods? BlackPods could be your solution

Apple’s AirPods are finally dangling from the ears of millions of users, some of whom may not like the looks of those buds. BlackPods wants to offer an alternative to Apple’s surgical white color painting your Pods matte black along with their charging case. Before you get all giddy over BlackPods you should know one thing, this is going to cost you. You have two options, you can buy a pair of pre-painted BlackPods from the company, or send your AirPods in to be treated. If you choose to buy directly from the company you’ll be forking over $249USD. Should you choose to send your own in the cost is $99USD. Read the company’s pitch points for their product below.

  • At BlackPods, we’ve developed a proprietary coating system specifically for Apple’s AirPods. Our three-phase approach yields a luxurious scratch-resistant finish. BlackPods are the perfect complement to any Black, Jet Black, or Space Gray iPhone.
  • Every pair of customized AirPods we produce is hand-finished by a team of skilled artisans in Brooklyn, NY. Whether you purchase them through us or send yours in, each pair of AirPods is subjected to a rigorous visual and quality inspection.
  • Your AirPods are then carefully packaged and shipped to you. Typically, the process takes about 3 days to complete (shipping time excluded).

AirPods are already priced at $159USD which isn’t cheap. Tack on another $99USD to get them painted and you’re in a price category that could get you a very nice set of over-ear headphones. While BlackPods aren’t going to be for everyone, I’m sure there will be a few people out there who take advantage of this service. Hit the link below to check them out if you’re interested.
