With the adoption of USB Type-C ports, more companies are releasing various adapters with different functionality — one of the benefits of USB Type-C Thunderbolt ports. StarTech already has some USB-C video adapters on the market, and have updated their USB-C to HDMI and USB-C to VGA adapters with a “Presentation Mode” switch.

We’ve all been there before, either giving or watching a presentation and the display goes dark when power-save settings or a screensaver kicks in due to inactivity. The USB-C to HDMI and USB-C to VGA adapters from StarTech both feature a unique “Presentation Mode” switch, which overrides the computer’s power-save settings from launching the screensaver or turning off the display during periods of inactivity.

“When you’re delivering a presentation, avoiding interruptions is crucial to engaging your audience. Having to pause part way through because your screen goes blank or your screensaver starts, can distract an audience” said John Mardinly, Senior Product Manager for StarTech.com. “These adapters give you a quick and easy way to ensure your presentation won’t be interrupted.”

Additional features of the USB-C to VGA and HDMI adapters include:

  • Hassle-free connections with the reversible USB-C connector
  • Maximum portability with a small footprint and lightweight design
  • Thunderbolt 3 port compatible
  • 7.1 audio support
  • HDMI supports Ultra-HD video resolutions up to 4K at 60Hz
  • VGA supports resolutions up to 1920×1200

The USB-C adapters are compatible with USB-C equipped Windows® and macOS computers that support DisplayPort Alt Mode. Currently available at CDW, Amazon.com, Newegg.com, and PC Connection with an MSRP of $45.99USD for the HDMI version and $47.99USD for the VGA version, both are currently available for less on Amazon.com.
