To this day, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor remains one of my favourite games. The journey continues this year as Xbox just posted the announcement trailer (watch above) for Monolith Productions’ Middle-earth: Shadow of War — and what a trailer it is!
Middle-earth: Shadow of War™ is the sequel to the critically-acclaimed Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor™, winner of more than 50 industry awards, including 2015 Game Developers Choice Awards’ Game of the Year, Outstanding Innovation in Gaming at the 2015 D.I.C.E. Awards and the BAFTA for Game Design. In Middle-earth: Shadow of War, players wield a new Ring of Power and confront the deadliest of enemies, including Sauron and his Nazgul, in a monumental battle for Middle-earth. The open-world RPG is brought to life through the expansion of the award-winning Nemesis System. The robust personalization from the first game is now applied to the entire world where the environments and characters are all shaped by player actions and decisions, creating a personal world unique to every gameplay experience.
The game continues the journey of Talion and Celebrimbor and will be an Xbox Play Anywhere title on the Xbox One and Windows 10, as well as Project Scorpio when it launches during the holiday season. As with other Xbox Play Anywhere titles, progress, DLC, Gamerscore, and Achievements will be synced across Xbox One and Windows 10 computers, allowing gamers to pick up and play wherever they are.
The game releases on August 22nd, with digital pre-orders coming soon to the Xbox Store and Windows Store. A gameplay reveal is set for March 8th. For those of you with PlayStation 4 consoles, don’t fret as the game will be releasing on the PS4 as well.
