Random weapon perks were good and bad in Destiny because one gun a player may have could have one or two different perks than another player with that same gun. That’s just how guns rolled, but it’s been confirmed by director Luke Smith in an interview with Mashable that Destiny 2 guns will no longer have random rolls.
There aren’t random rolls on weapons anymore, Better Devils is a Crucible hand cannon [in Destiny 2], and what it has on it is what it has on it. Period.
It’s pretty straight forward with Smith saying that, but he also mentions that there are other ideas if you do manage to get a second, tenth, or twentieth gun but those ideas may not make it come launch date.
How can my second, third, and tenth Better Devils hand cannon be interesting? That’s a question we should be asking and answering as quickly as we can. We have ideas. While I would like nothing more than to share those ideas with you, we’re up against [a deadline]. I don’t know if they’ll make it for our Sept. 6 [release] date. But we have some ideas that we’re pretty excited about.
Even so, Smith also says in the interview that because of this change, it’ll give the team more time and flexibility for each weapon since there won’t be 10 different versions of one gun.
It’s gonna give us more flexibility to do per-item tuning. [That’s] something we haven’t had before because of the way we were building the [first] game.
Personally, I think it’s great to see more change in Destiny 2, but as far as weapon rolls go that’s even better because then I won’t have to keep getting engrams thinking I’ll get a certain gun with the right perks that I want. So, what do you guys think about weapons rolls no longer being a thing? Let us know by leaving your comments down below, or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.Source: VG247
