[UPDATED] One of the least offensive YouTubers gets flagged for being offensive?

YouTubers come in all shapes, sizes, genders, and even species. Part of the allure of YouTube is that there are so many characters and content to choose from. There are YouTubers who like to make videos that shock, some that like to make you laugh, some that instruct, and many that just entertain. Yes, there are YouTubers out there that are also offensive. But when I heard that one of my favorite channels was flagged as offensive. Well, I was truly shocked.

UPDATE (06/06/2018 09:00 a.m. ET): We reached out to Google/YouTube for comment and have yet to hear from them regarding this story. TheReportofTheWeek does indicate that the video has been unflagged and we verify that we do not get the offensive content warning. It would be nice if YouTube provided an explanation as to why the video was flagged in the first place. But it seems we won’t be getting an explanation here.

ORIGINAL STORY
TheReportOfTheWeek is a YouTube channel that does a lot of food reviews and other assorted sundries. Sure, the channel isn’t for everyone. The host is has a dry sense of humor and is sort of boring, but that’s his schtick. I’ve watched this channel on and off for over a year and I’ve never seen an offensive video from him period. So it was surprising that I found out (through Google Plus) that his latest review was flagged as offensive.

The video in question is a food review of the new Popeye’s Rip’n Chick’n. I actually watched the video before it was flagged so I knew immediately that there is literally no offensive content in this video. Check it out for yourself below, though you will have to get past YouTube’s little (ridiculous) warning.

We’re not sure why the hell YouTube would accept this as an offensive video. For whatever reason, someone decided to report the video as offensive and YouTube seems to agree. I’m certainly not in agreement at all on this one and I think YouTube’s policies, algorithm, and reporting are messed up. We intend to reach out to Google and YouTube about this and find out if we can get some answers.

What do you think of ReportOfTheWeek being flagged as offensive? Let us know in the comments below or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook.
