[MWC 2019] The SanDisk 1TB microSD card is here but it will cost you US$449.99

Android / Mobile / Tech

Of course, if you don’t need 1TB of storage, the company makes these in 512GB, 400GB, 256GB, 128GB, 64GB, and 32GB starting at US$199.99 for the 512GB.

Digital storage has come a long way and the technology keeps getting better. At Mobile World Congress 2019, the all new SanDisk 1TB microSD card was just announced. That’s right, the SanDisk 1TB microSD card. Wrap your brain around that for a minute. While Samsung has just made it possible to get 1TB of storage in a smartphone, most smartphones don’t have that capability.

Grant it, now that Samsung has done it, we will see more smartphones coming with 1TB of storage, but I digress. The topic at hand is this tiny SanDisk 1TB microSD card. You’re probably wondering what something like this is going to cost you. If you didn’t read the headline, it’s about as much as a midrange smartphone in price, US$449.99.

While that seems like a lot of cash, considering how small a microSD card is and that there is 1TB on that card, it’s actually a reasonable price. Here’s what SanDisk has to say about their latest mobile storage option.

Get extreme speeds for fast transfer, app performance, and 4K UHD.2 Ideal for your Android smartphone, action cameras or drones, this high-performance microSD card does 4K UHD video recording, Full HD video and high-resolution photos. The super-fast SanDisk Extreme microSDXC memory card reads up to 160MB/s and writes up to 90MB/s. Plus, it’s A2-rated, so you can get fast application performance for an exceptional smartphone experience.
