Apple TV+. This is what this event was really about and what most of us were waiting to hear about. No one really knew how Apple TV+ would take shape and there were many predictions thrown out, including Apple possibly buying Netflix. The Netflix theory was thrown out the window though, as Apple announced a new TV app that will be accessible across platforms.
That’s right, Samsung SmartTVs, Sony, VIZIO, LG, and even Firestick and Roku will be getting the TV app. Apple is doing this to better reach a bigger audience for its new Apple TV+ subscription service which will include a bevy of new content from original shows, movies and documentaries.

anddocumentaries, coming this fall. Apple TV+, Apple’s original video subscription service, will feature a brand new slate of programming from the world’s most celebrated creative artists, including Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Octavia Spencer, J.J. Abrams, Jason Momoa, M. Night Shyamalan, Jon M. Chu and more. On the Apple TV app, subscribers will enjoy inspiring and authentic stories with emotional depth and compelling characters from all walks of life, ad-free and on demand.

Apple TV+ will be home to some of the highest quality original storytelling that TV and movie lovers have seen yet.”
The new Apple TV will offer up an a la carte menu of channels including its own originals. The service is going to be available in May with original content hitting later in the year. Tim Cook also announced Apple’s partnership with Oprah, which he did in dramatic fashion, clearly emphasizing her importance in the grand scheme of things.
Pricing and availability for the subscription service was not announced but is expected to be announced in the fall. The new TV app will hit Apple devices this May.
