Pairing your TV with soundbars or home theater audio systems is one way to get great sound from your movies, shows, and music. Soundbars and speakers come in all shapes and sizes, but have you ever seen a butterfly wing style speakers before? Don’t worry, Bang & Olufsen has you covered.

The Beovision Harmony, as Bang & Olufsen calls it, is crafted from oak and aluminum. The front houses “sublime technical instruments with intricate grading pattern.” It is carefully designed to maximize acoustic performance of the three-channel, fully active DSP-based sound centre while all being attached to a 77″ LG OLED TV.

The way the Beovision Harmony butterfly style sound speakers work is while the TV is off or you’re playing music, the thin screen rests close to the floor vertically. When Beovision Harmony is powered on, the two fronts fan out, creating a butterfly wing effect while the TV screen rises to adjust its height above the speakers as if the TV were floating just above them.

Butterfly Wing fan out.

John Mollanger, Bang & Olufsen’s Executive Vice President of Brand and Market had some words to say about their newest speaker system:

Pristine picture performance combined with truly immersive sound ensures a mesmerizing viewing experience. But the presence of a big screen is rarely a welcoming addition to living spaces. With Beovision Harmony, we wanted to create a meaningful object for interior that reduces the visual presence of the TV and transforms it into something that people will develop an emotional attachment to.

As for pricing and availability, the LG OLED TV optimized with Bang & Olufsen, will cost EUR€18,500, or about US$20,755. The Beovision Harmony will be available starting October 2019 in Bang & Olufsen stores. You can either purchase the set in oak wood/aluminum front or a combined Grey Melange two-tone fabric/aluminum front and comes with two placement options: floor stand and wall bracket.
