When gamers, or anyone for that matter, shops for a mechanical keyboard, they usually have to choose if they want clicky, linear, or tactile switches. Logitech has announced two new tenkeyless mechanical gaming keyboards, one of which features user-swappable GX Clicky, Linear, or Tactile switches.
“Gamers, especially pros have different preferences when it comes to keyboard switches. That’s why we wanted to design and build a new PRO keyboard that featured swappable switches. By giving gamers the ability to choose the right switch to match their style of play, we’ve delivered a new level of performance that is optimized for each individual’s unique needs.”
Ujesh Desai, vice president and general manager, Logitech Gaming
The Logitech G PRO Mechanical Gaming Keyboard features GX Blue clicky switches, while the Logitech G PRO X comes with your choice of GX Brown Tactile, GX Red Linear, or GX Blue Clicky switches. Furthermore, the PRO X switches can be removed and swapped out for another switch style with the PRO X Switch kits.
Features of the Logitech G PRO X Mechanical Gaming Keyboard include:
- Pro-inspired tenkeyless design
- User-swappable mechanical switches
- LIGHTSYNC RGB lighting
- Onboard lighting profile
- 1.8 m (5.9 ft) detachable cable
- 12 programmable F-keys
- 1 ms report rate
For those unfamiliar with switch types, clicky switches offer an audible click and feeback bump when depressed, linear are quiet and offer a smooth keystroke, while browns tend to be soft and quiet with a tactile bump. In the case of the PRO X, the switches can be swapped out using the included dual-purpose tool and can then be conveniently stored in the box.
The Logitech G switches have the following specifications:
