vivo isn’t a brand used here in the U.S., but it is relatively significant in India and other overseas countries. We’re not sure if the company will expand to the U.S., but our readers in India should like to hear that it has announced its vivo V27 series of smartphones at MWC 2023.

vivo says the series will carry a “flagship-level” 50 MP OIS Ultra-Sensing Camera with Sony IMX766V Sensor. Improved camera software combined with the new sensors should give users an excellent camera experience. We reviewed the V25 Pro last year, and like that device; the V27 series comes with Color Changing Glass, which enables the back cover of the devices to display different colors when exposed to UV light.
The new-generation 4 nm chip provides powerful performance with low power consumption and Extended RAM 3.0. Furthermore, to ensure users never miss something, V27 Pro has a 4600 mAh (TYP) battery and FlashCharge technology with 66W of charging power.
The rear camera of V27 Pro has the Aura Light Portrait System, which provides natural night portraits thanks to its 50 MP OIS Ultra-Sensing Camera with Sony IMX766 sensor, studio-level aura lighting effect, and portrait-enhancing algorithms working in tandem, which allows users to shoot clear, natural, and atmospheric night portraits with ease. In addition, OIS provides for more prolonged exposure and increases light intake by six times, producing more stable snapshots and boosting the quality and success rate of images taken in low-light conditions.
The Real-Time Extreme Night Vision feature available in Night Mode allows users to see how bright the image is in preview mode, providing a real-time view of the brightness level of the final image. Users can manually adjust the exposure and brightness during the preview to gain total control in night photography scenarios. vivo’s RAWHDR algorithm makes more detailed color adjustments, faithfully restoring highlights, colors, and brightness.
vivo constantly strives to improve the visual experience for its users. V27 Pro has a 6.78″ 3D curved screen, providing a more immersive and engaging visual experience with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, 1.07 billion colors, and ultra-high brightness and contrast. The 3D curved screen offers rich details, taking users to a cinema-like immersive visual world.
The V27 Pro is the thinnest phone with a curved screen in vivo’s history, which is only 7.36 mm thick, giving the phone a comfortable grip. In addition, V27 Pro is an excellent fit for Esports enthusiasts with its screen that supports a 120 Hz refresh rate and a Visual Enhancement feature, providing a smooth gaming and video experience for users.
More and more users are looking for smartphones with high-performance capabilities. V27 Pro is equipped with MediaTek’s new ultra-high-performance D8200 platform, which features a 4 nm advanced process, exceptionally low power consumption, higher processing speeds, and a substantial performance boost over the previous generation. The new D8200 has a 3.1 GHz super-large core supported by Enhanced LPDDR and Enhanced UFS 3.1, which increases the speed of installing large games by 21%, and the speed of copying large files by 56%.
Furthermore, V27 Pro has Extended RAM 3.0, which works with the 4 nm chip to help people seamlessly switch between apps and store data. Extended RAM 3.0 supports extended RAM of up to 8 GB, which can run 36 apps in the background. The extra memory allows users to run more apps and launch background apps without reloading for a smooth experience.
The new V27 Pro has a 4600 mAh (TYP) battery. With vivo’s in-house developed FlashCharge technology, it allows for 66W of charging power and a peak energy conversion efficiency of up to 97.5%. And with the further support of an advanced cooling system, the phone can be charged to 43% in only 15 minutes while the screen is off, 72% in 30 minutes, and 100% in under an hour. V27 Pro phones have twice the lifespan compared to the industry standard and support up to 1,600 charging cycles compared to the industry standard of 800.
Starting today, V27 Pro is available in India. Pricing is as follows:
- V27 Pro: Starting from $459
- V27: Starting from $399
- V27e: Starting from $289
