Sony’s Xperia M4 Aqua Launches in Canada

Sony’s Xperia M4 Aqua, sibling to the Xperia Z3, is set to be available later this month at multiple carriers across Canada. The 5″ IP65/68 rated waterproof Android smartphone will be available mid-June on Bell, Fido, Videotron, Virgin Mobile, and WIND Mobile. It’s interesting that Rogers and Telus aren’t listed, as FIDO is a subsidiary of Telus so we’ll have to wait and see if the device will be available on those networks as well.

As with the Z3, the M4 Aqua features up to two-day battery life, and a waterproof/dust-tight design but at a lower price. The Xperia M4 Aqua features a 720p display, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-core (Quad-core 1.5GHz + Quad-core 1.0GHz) processor, a 13MP camera, 5 MP super wide-angle front camera, and a 2400 mAh battery which boasts up to 13 hours talk time, 779 hours standby time, 64 hours of music listening, or just under 7 hours of video playback.

The Xperia M4 Aqua is also Sony’s first waterproof smartphone which has a design modification to allow for capless USB charging, removing the hassle of having to open and close the charging port to prevent water from leaking into the device.

Available in black or white, the Xperia M4 Aqua will also ship running Android 5 (Lollipop). We have no word yet on a U.S. release but we’ll be sure to keep you posted!
