One Plus has had its ups and downs through its first generation smartphone the One Plus 1. Now the company is gearing up to launch the One Plus 2 and images of the device have now been leaked. You can see the One Plus 2 brings over some of the characteristics of its older brother, most notable is the textured sandstone back. Having owned a One Plus 1 myself I can say that was an excellent choice as it’s one of the phones best features. The camera module on the back also looks pretty dead on to its older brother and will have a 13MP sensor with dual LED flash.
Around the front things are a bit different, the first glaring difference is the physical button around front, which one can presume is One Plus’s “lighting quick” fingerprint scanner. This gives this generation a much different look than the One Plus 1 and it also breaks up that front glass symmetry (which I do not like). It would have been nice to see them integrate the fingerprint scanner into the glass and keep the lines flowing. Around the perimeter it appears the One Plus 2 may be sporting aluminum and seems much curvier than its older brother.
The internals and other specs have mostly been revealed, 4GB RAM, 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset, 4G support, 3,300mAh battery and USB C connector for charging. CEO Pete Lau has promised that the price point for the One Plus 2 would be under $450 which is still amazing for a phone with these specs. Now we’ll see how their marketing team performs in round two as they had many issues the first time around.
We’ve seen price estimates for the #OnePlus2 upwards of $500. “Honestly, it’s never been about the price.” pic.twitter.com/gFoAuVTlGX
