Waterproof iPhone 7? Does The Rumor Hold Water?

Earlier this year the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus were found to have a gasket built inside that helped the phone resists water infiltration but Apple made no mention of it during their presentation. Could this discovery mean that we’re heading for a waterproof iPhone 7? Apple likes to flirt with things a lot and when it doesn’t announce something, it usually means they’re not reading to “market” it. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus aren’t certified waterproof, but it has been proven that they can be subjected to water and come out unscathed.

So with the current iteration of iPhone being, at the very least, water resistant….it stands to reason that Apple might step up their game for the iPhone 7 and make it waterproof. If the iPhone 7 were to be waterproof, it surely wouldn’t make it the first phone to go down that road. Sony’s Xperia lineup has been doing waterproofing for some time now as well as Samsung’s Active line and they’ve done it with much success. Perhaps this is why Apple is looking at making their own phones waterproof, losing users who want that feature to the likes of Sony and Samsung isn’t on Apple’s favorite things list.

Whatever the reason, we think that Apple will at least start their marketing buzz campaign using the technology already in the 6s/6s Plus. They may not make a fully waterproof iPhone 7 but they will tout and market the water resistance it’s surly to have adopted from the iPhone 6s/6s Plus.

What do you think? Will Apple make a waterproof iPhone 7? Or will they stick with the tech they currently have and market/buzzword it up to the public? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
