New Hero, Lunar Festival Arrive In Heroes Of The Storm

Blizzard’s Heroes of the Storm MOBA which pits characters from different Blizzard franchises against each other in team battle has received an update which not only introduces this year’s Lunar Festival Event, but also the wizard Li-Ming from Diablo III.

Lunar Festival Event

The 2016 Lunar Festival Event runs now through March 1st and includes two special events. The first rewards you with the Monkey Elder holiday portrait after you complete 25 games in Versus AI, Quick Match, or Ranked Play before the Lunar Festival ends. The second event has you trying to catch the Monkey Elder before each match, that is if he appears as he only has a 50% chance of spawning. If you do catch him, he will reward each member of your team with 100 gold for the day.

My favourite part of the Lunar Festival Event is the new skins. Last year’s Lunar Festival 2015 Bundle returns and includes Chen, Li Li, and the Lunar Chen and Lunar Li Li skins. The Lunar Festival 2016 Bundle includes Illidan, Jaina, a pair of fantastic Lunar Illidan and Lunar Jaina skins, and a Lunar Dragon mount. Both bundles are only available for the duration of the Lunar Festival Event.

Li-Ming

We got our first look at Li-Ming and (presumably) next month’s hero, the Necromancer Xul, last week — both from Diablo lore. Li-Ming, the Rebellious Wizard, has some really fun talents and abilities with Critical Mass being perhaps the most impressive of them all. For each takedown or takedown assist, all of Li-Ming’s Ability cooldowns are refreshed. In the right situation, this can easily translate into multiple casts of her Magic Missiles, Arcane Orb, Teleport, and Disintegrate or Wave of Force Abilities. A ranged assassin, she is a bit fragile, but with traits that increase spell damage and mana regeneration, she isn’t one to be taken lightly.

Li-Ming is also available in the Star Princess Li-Ming Bundle, which includes Li-Ming, a Legendary Skin, and the Star Chariot mount. It’s a fun skin and mount which was developed to go opposite the recently released Space Lord Leoric skin.

In addition to the Lunar Festival and Li-Ming, there have been quite a few changes to the interface, gameplay, and some of the heroes, including a pretty major rework of Nova. Oh, and those Towers, Forts, and Keeps? They now deal 50% bonus damage to Heroes, you’ve been warned!

Have you tried out Li-Ming or any of the new Lunar Festival Event skins? Let us know what you think in the comments or on Google+, Twitter, or Facebook, and be sure to check out all the patch notes in the link below.
