Meizu H1

We haven’t had a whole lot of time to play with the H1 as we just got this in today, we will have a full review in the coming weeks.

Meizu and Xiaomi are names not widely known here in the U.S. but they’re wildly popular in China and other countries. Both companies make smartphones that directly compete against each other and now they are competing for the wearables space. The Meizu H1 fitness band has been creating a bit of buzz with a few photos here and there, and now we have our own exclusive photos right here. The Meizu H1 is set to take on the Xiaomi Mi Band 2, which we reviewed a few months back, and they both look very similar to each other with some slight differences.

The display on the Meizu H1 is a blue color and is embedded in the band itself, while the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 is a removable module separate from the band. The charging method is different too, the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 slides into a separate charging dongle that plugs into a USB port. The Meizu H1 uses a magnetic charging method with a separate charging stick that clings to the band with a good amount of grip.

We haven’t had a whole lot of time to play with the H1 as we just got this in today, but we will have a full review in the coming weeks. We don’t have a release date for the H1 but it is expected the first half of December. We also don’t know pricing on the H1 but we suspect it will be priced aggressively to compete with the Mi Band 2 for sales. Fitness bands aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but there are some people who prefer these over smartwatches as they tend to be cheaper (with the exception of the FitBit) and less complicated than a smartwatch. Both Meizu and Xiaomi are looking to break into the U.S. market with gadgets like these so keep your eyes open for them.
