Fender enters Bluetooth speaker market with signature design and sound

Fender is probably best known for its electric & acoustic guitars, basses, and amps. Lately, the company has been diving into the earphone, app, and online learning sphere with new products. Now you can add Bluetooth speakers to Fender’s portfolio as they have just released the compact Newport and premium Monterey Bluetooth speaker models — both “created with the Fender aficionado in mind.”

If the names Newport and Monterey sound familiar, that’s because Fender has named their introductory Bluetooth speakers after a pair of iconic SoCal music festivals. The Bluetooth speaker designs are based on the classic Fender amp design and feature Fender’s signature sound.

“At Fender, we take pride in delivering a first-class, quality sound we’ve provided musicians for decades,” said Jim Ninesling, Senior Vice President, Consumer Electronics. “Our first-ever Bluetooth speakers build on our expanding variety of audio products designed to take the listening experience to the next level for music lovers – something we started with our Pro In-Ear Monitors in 2016. Music lovers and Fender fans can now bring quality Fender sound and classic style with them wherever they go – from the beach and sports practices to the office.”

The portable Newport Bluetooth speaker model features a 12-hour battery life, two full-range drivers and a tweeter, 30 watts of “powerfully clear Fender audio,” and supports both aptX and AAC digital audio. The Newport’s design takes its inspiration for Fender’s classic “silverface” amplifier line up.

The Monterey, on the other hand, targets audiophiles with its powered output. It also supports aptX and AAC digital audio and features a pair of 5.12″ woofers, two 1″ tweeters, 120 watts of “powerful, crisp Fender audio,” and an EQ preset switch. The Monterey is designed after Fender’s ’68 custom grille cloth and also has a 1/8″ and RCA dual analog inputs. Both speakers also feature knobs for adjusting volume, bass, and treble, as well as a blue LED amp jewel light.
