An interesting Crowd-funding campaign just came across the Techaeris desks in the form of Fin, a Bluetooth-enabled thumb ring that turns you into a remote control. Fin’s sensors are said to be able to distinguish between points to any segment of your fingers, making your entire hand into a numeric keypad, or gesture control system.
Here are just a few of the reported specs:
- Size/Fit: Flexible.
- Battery: Li Po custom battery with micro-USB charging dock – reported life of 1 week per charge
- Communication: Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR and 4.0
- Compatibility: Windows, MAC, iOS, Android, Windows Phones.
Fin has gone through several initial prototype phases, and honestly has some pretty ambitious goals for the functionality and design of the device. They also tout the benefits for helping the visually impaired interact with technology. They’ve currently received just over half of their requested funding (55k of 100k) on Indiegogo with 11 days to go. All of us here at Techaeris would like to see this project succeed, if for no other reason but because we’d really like to try it out! Check out their promotional video below, and then head to the source link for more information and to donate.
