Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge Debut

It’s no secret that Samsung and Apple are in some stiff competition in the mobile space. Today Samsung unveiled two of their newest devices, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge. With deep pockets and a pretty good grip on the Android market, Samsung wants to keep hold of that position. The nice thing about Samsung is they’re not afraid to experiment with something new, and they can afford to. There are obvious upgrades to the Note 4, bigger screen, better cameras, faster processor – all to be expected. Where Samsung is stepping out is with the Galaxy Note Edge. This is a device that some may or may not like, but that’s Samsung’s thing, throw it out there and find out if the people like it. Check out the hands on video below from USA Today.

Also introduced today was the Gear VR, a device Samsung and Oculus worked on together. Virtual Reality is still an emerging technology that isn’t likely going to take off yet, I would think the Gear VR is another experiment for Samsung. Love or hate Samsung, they are doing things very different than Apple. Instead of waiting or experimenting under lock and key and out of the public eye, they favor getting their ideas out and working through the bugs as they go. It will be interesting to see public reaction to both Gear VR and Note Edge. What are your initial impressions? Let us know in the comments below or on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
