UPDATED: Get Your Free T-Mobile Router Tomorrow

(Update) A T-Mobile Rep supplied us with this statement of correction: In store sales have been pushed back to Sept 24. Tomorrow, reps will only be allowed to ship routers to customers.

T-Mobile customers, don’t forget to pick up your free T-Mobile router tomorrow September 17th. That’s right, as part of uncarrier 7 you can get a free T-Mobile router ($25 deposit which is returned to you when you’re done with the router). In an effort to make good on its promise of free WiFi calling to all T-Mobile customers using a T-Mobile phone the carrier is giving out a free T-Mobile router.

How is this supposed to help T-Mobile’s effort to provide that WiFi calling? Most of us already have a router at home and can take advantage of WiFi calling without issues but the free T-Mobile router is a portable device you can setup anywhere.

“Your office, home, man cave, cabin, any place you get broadband, you can now get T-Mobile coverage,” he said. More importantly — especially for those who still use their phones as, y’know, phones — it also prioritizes your HD-quality calls over any other activity on the network; on most routers, your call might get dropped when your significant other starts binge-watching Breaking Bad, whereas the CellSpot ensures that your call gets saved at the expense of your family’s Netflix marathon.

T-Mobile gets credit for trying things to better improve their services and if you feel like participating in helping them make it better then there’s no time like the present to pick up that router. What do you think of the free T-Mobile router program? Will you be taking advantage of this? Let us know in the comments below or on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
