Oops! Hot on the heals of Google’s Nexus line announcement, images of the Apple’s new iPads appeared briefly online within the iBooks app. Images of the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 appeared in the iOS 8.1 iPad user guide.

While the images were pulled down fairly quickly, 9to5Mac was able to grab a couple of screenshots confirming the device names. The images, one of which you can see above, confirms the addition of Touch ID sensors on both models, as well as an iSight camera on the iPad mini 3. Both tablets look similar to their predecessors, but that’s pretty much expected at this point.

A second image confirmed the ability to take burst shots on the iPad Air 2.

Not much else could be ascertained from the brief posting of these screens, we’ll have to wait until Apple’s iPad event tomorrow for more details on what else will be upgraded in the newest iPads. The early “release” of an 8.1 user guide could also hint at the release of the update to iOS 8.0 which would bring Apple Pay to iOS devices.
