New Smash Bros Wii U Details Appear On Amazon

The Amazon product page for Super Smash Bros Wii U has apparently sprung a leak, as a few unannounced game features have appeared on it. Ever since it was revealed that the Wii U and 3DS versions of the newest Smash Bros would be released on separate dates, fans have been wondering if anything would set the two apart. We may finally have our answer in the form of custom stages, special challenges and a “board game” mode.

Whether you’re creating stages on the GamePad, competing in challenges crafted by Master Hand and Crazy Hand, or outwitting your opponents in a brand new board game mode, there’s no doubt that the ultimate Smash Bros. game has arrived.

Nintendo’s big plan for the maligned Wii U GamePad going forward seems to be creation. Between these custom stages and Mario Maker announced at this year’s E3, Iwata and company are clearly hoping to leverage the touchscreen for creativity instead of forcing it into gameplay. Obviously no idea how well it will work compared to just spinning and placing items with joysticks, but it at least shows a commitment to keeping the technology around.

This mysterious “board game” mode is most intriguing to me personally. I’d love something similar to Mario Party or even the Monopoly-style Wii game Fortune Street. Combining either of those with intermittent Smash Bros fighting segments is perfectly fine by me. It could also be another interesting way of implementing Amiibo’s into the game, outside of having them fight each other. No word from Nintendo themselves yet, but there are definitely going to be some interesting things coming down the pipe between now and the game’s November 21st release date.

What do you think? If you already bought the 3DS version are these additions enough to make you buy the game a second time? Let us know in the comments or on social media!
