PhoneArena is reporting via a French leakster that the Apple Watch price will be starting at $500 for the entry level model, and all the way to $5000 for a more luxurious model. PhoneArena states those leaking these details have had a great track record of leaks and while $500 is believable, $5000 is a bit of a stretch. Apple products have always been a bit more pricey than its competition but with the smartwatch competition heating up, I think a starting point of $400 is a more realistic price Apple would be looking at.
The Apple Watch will most certainly be available in a range of prices, but to stretch to $5000 is being dramatic.
Also leaked is a supposed Apple Watch release date which apparently will be February 14th, Valentine’s Day. A photo also leaked of what is claimed to be a magnetic cradle for the Apple Watch (pictured right), which is basically a holder for your watch while it sits on your desk. The pricing rumors upward of $5000 are quiet unbelievable, even a starting point of $500 is a bit of a stretch. Apple understands the competition on the market and they’re surly prepared to come in competitive without under pricing themselves and diluting their brand. To me a $400 starting point is the sweet spot, but then again, I’m speculating just as much as these leaksters are.
What do you think the Apple Watch will be priced at? Is $500 too much for a starting point?
