New Disney Short Frozen Fever To Premiere Before Cinderella In March 2015

|

Disney announced today that a new short titled Frozen Fever will debut in theaters March 13, 2015 before showings of the live-action Cinderella. The short – which brings back characters Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf from Disney’s 2013 hit, Frozen – will be directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, the directors of the original feature-length film. The writers behind the Oscar-winning and obscenely catchy “Let It Go,” Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, are also reportedly on board.

In the year since its release, Frozen has been an immense success for Disney and Disney Animation. Mountains of merchandise, several characters that are already beloved by children, and one too many songs that parents will never be able to get out of their heads. Frozen has also appeared in other semi-related media such as ABC’s Once Upon A Time, where Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff are all brought to life in their over-acted glory.

Frozen Fever will tell the story of Anna’s birthday being ruined by her older sister unable to control her powers. It’s presumably been a while since the events of Frozen, so who knows how many more catchy songs and sets of gloves Elsa has left to contain those pesky ice powers. Maybe the guards should put her in easily-freezable metal chains again?

We’ll find out when the short premieres next March.
