Sony Prepping 12.9″ iPad Pro Tablet Competitor?

|

Apple is supposedly releasing a whopping 12.9″ iPad Pro soon to compete with Microsoft’s surface tablets in terms of a more robust operating system than regular tablets offer. The word on the street is the iPad Pro would run on some sort of hybrid of iOS and OS X. Now Digitimes is reporting that Sony is looking to counter Apple before they get too much of a foothold on that segment of the market.

Sony is said to be adding a 12.9″ tablet to its lineup that will be rocking a 4k display and will be razor thin at 8.6mm thick. Qualcomm is the chosen processor for this rumored tablet and the price tag looks to be no less than $1000USD for the entry level version. No word on what OS this will be running, one would assume Windows 10 but then Sony could go with Google’s Chrome OS to keep it light yet powerful. Google’s Chrome OS is becoming popular in Google Chromebooks and would fit nicely into a tablet hybrid like this. The reports indicate that Sony is planning an early 2015 release of this unnamed 12.9″ tablet so keep your eyes out first half of the new year.

What do you think of Sony’s possible 12.9″ tablet? If the rumors are true do you think it will ship with Windows 10 or Chrome OS? Let us know in the comments below or on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
