Earlier today, Netflix announced release dates for several of their upcoming original series. Headlining the announcement was the Marvel series Daredevil, the Kyle Chandler-led Bloodline, and the second season of their Marco Polo series.
Coming on April 10th, 2015, Marvel’s Daredevil will tell the story of blinded-since-birth Matt Murdock and his time doubling as both a lawyer by day and the superhero Daredevil by night. Daredevil is one of four Marvel series coming exclusive to Netflix that leads into a Defenders crossover miniseries – the other three being Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. Daredevil will star Rosario Dawson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, and Elden Henson.
Bloodline is a brand new series from Netflix and Sony Pictures Television coming March 20th, 2015. The series was created by Damages co-creators Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman, and Glenn Kessler and will star Kyle Chandler as a black sheep family member “exposing the emotional demons that lie at the core of the [Rayburn] family.”
Marco Polo will of course continue the story of the famed explorer and his adventures in Kublai Khan’s court in 13th century China. While no date for the second season was announced, it likely was just recently ordered and thus still quite a ways off. Netflix has a track record of keeping original series on a consistent yearly schedule – House of Cards seasons one and two released in February of 2013 and 2014 respectively – and is set to return this February for season three, while Orange is the New Black’s first two seasons released in June of 2013 and 2014 – so don’t be surprised if Marco Polo appears this December.
Also announced by Netflix were release dates for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (March 6th, 2015), Grace and Frankie (May 8th, 2015), and The Adventures of Puss in Boots (February 6th, 2015).
